Today's 3v3 event decimated expectations in both turnout and fun! We've had a large number of players and teams express just how much enjoyment they got out of the day. While these tournaments are certainly made better when you're having fun, in the end, most players also come to win. So, what sorts of teams were able to top 153 players and become the best 3v3 duelists of the day? Read on to find out!
51 teams. 153 duelists. The dust has settled, and today we've crowned three new Goat Format Champions. Check out their decklists here!
Soul Control has been a staple of the format since Evan Vargas piloted the deck to a top four finish at SJC Los Angeles in 2005. While the core strategy and principles have stayed the same, the deck has certainly evolved over the years. Smoker and his team may have just added to these changes, potentially pushing the deck to new heights with their innovative and exciting list!
Beastdown decks have long been a staple in Goat Format. The piercing power of Enraged Battle Ox and the oppressive summoning restrictions set by King Tiger Wanghu have ruined the day of many Scapegoat players. These powerful and agressive cards seem to have found their home in the hands of Jeix today, who has (with the rest of his team) currently fought to a 3-1 record in our 3v3 event!
The Goat Format Championship 3v3 event is a go, and boy has it been exciting! Once again, we've got an incredibly successful event with 51 participating teams! That's 153 players, a new record! Kyosuke Kiryu is one such player, and today he's brought his trusty Gravekeeper's deck with the goal of reaching the top! Gravekeeper's is one of the most popular tribal decks in the format. Gravekeeper's Spy is a powerful wall against aggro decks, and Necrovalley makes summoning chaos monsters a nightmare. How will they perform in today's meta, though? Congratulations to juve89 on winning Obelisk Blue 3 and securing an invitation to the 2021 Goat Format World Championships. Check out the bracket here and top 8 deck list below. "In simplified games, you want them to be forced to play tightly because simple mistakes can be incredibly punishing. Good, solid, foundational gameplay is probably the most difficult to maintain way to win, and you want your opponent to feel that pressure. Therefore, using your removal efficiently should largely focus on the ability to remain in the game when in these simplified positions." |
