Rules & Policies
Throughout the years, the Goat Format community has maintained a tradition of playing the format the way it was played in 2005. This means applying rules and rulings exactly as a Head Judge would have done at a premier event in the April 2005 format, even when it would entail a contradiction with the current rules and game mechanics of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. This ensures that the metagame is not artificially altered by various "hindsight" rulings that would have the potential to change exactly how good a card or deck is in the format, but it's also a lot of work that most players simply don't have the time to do on their own!
To this end, we take it upon ourselves at GoatFormat.com to distribute clear and accessible materials to assist judges and tournament organizers in understanding the niches and nuances of Goat Format rules and rulings. These materials can be found below.
