Goat Format Championship 20 Deck Tech: Void's "Water Reasoning Gate"

We've featured a Water Reasoning Gate Turbo list before in our deck techs. User Urtzuub piloted the archetype a few years ago during Goat Format Championship 15. The strategy is back again, though, as Yordan (AKA Void) is currently piloting it with an undefeated record!

Deck List

This variant of Reasoning Gate plays Levia-Dragon - Daedalus, alongside A Legendary Ocean to blow up the board and push in with a lethal attack. Aqua Spirit and Fenrir are both commonly played since they can both be special summoned to fill the board quickly, as well as fuel Dimension Fusions through their summon costs. They can even be used as tributes for Levia Dragon.

Void's list does not play Fenrir, but he's got a full three Aqua Spirit to support his Deadalus. He's even snuck in a singleton Bazoo the Soul Eater for some extra banish shenanigans.

Player Insight

One of my favorite cards is Levia Dragon - Daedalus, and I have been wanting to create a deck that is able to utilize this card effectively. I saw the potential in building a WATER variant of Reasoning Gate Turbo and decided to give it a shot. Daedalus has an effect that can be quite explosive and running it in a standard control list just didn't seem right to me. So, I played around with the ratios of key cards such as Daedalus, A Legendary Ocean, Terraforming etc. to get a feel for what might render a sweet spot for consistency, and I came up with the deck list I used for the tournament. I also decided to join the tournament last minute and my decision to run this deck was also a last minute decision since I was debating on whether I should go the "safer" route a play a more standard deck, but I am happy with the results so far!

For the main skeleton of the deck list I took heavy inspiration from Delinkquent's RGT builds that have topped in tournaments recently. From there, I factored in what might be the best WATER monsters to add to the deck to compliment its theme. Aqua Spirit and Tribe - Infecting Virus quickly came to mind due to their synergy with one another and with the rest of the strategy.

A tech choice that has been performing very nicely is Bazoo The Soul-Eater. This card allows me to not only remove from play my Dark Magician of Chaos (in order to bring it back with Dimension Fusion), but it also works with the rest of the monster lineup - and to top it off - it can go up to 2500 ATK. I also opted to go for a Terraforming over the third A Legendary Ocean, because I would rather thin the deck out despite going with the risk of potentially drawing it late game when its targets are already either in my hand or in the graveyard. The ratio of 2 Legendary Oceans/1 Terraforming has been working out well for me.

It's still quite early, but I managed to win both matches thus far with 0 losses. I was able to pull off Levia Dragon's effect in order to destroy my whole opponent's field and bring out my other monsters to finish my opponent off in the first match, and in the second duel of my second match I was fortunate enough to top deck a Brain Control, stealing my opponent's Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of The Beginning for game. Well, what can I say, luck is definitely a factor to consider when it comes to moments like this.
In his closing statements, Void had a call to action for all of you spice lovers out there!
Make this deck more popular and try to improve it! We need more non-chaos decks in the format.
