Goodbye Everyone (by ACP)

A little over a year ago, I helped Skully found GoatFormat.com with one goal in my mind, to create a welcoming and sustainable Goat Format community. Goat Format is truly a wonderful game, and I want there to always be a place for people to play it and learn about it. I believe that I have done my job to help create the kind of community that I originally had in mind.

GoatFormat.com has gotten through the most challenging hurdles that come with the early stages of community-building and has now become much more established. But in the last few months, I have significantly scaled back my involvement with all aspects of GoatFormat.com and its administration. I find that I get greater personal satisfaction out of rapidly scaling up smaller communities than I do out of the maintenance and politics involved in maintaining larger ones. Because of this, I am formally giving up my administrative and leadership duties from this point forward. I can rest easy knowing that Skully will be able to keep things moving in the right direction.

In parting, I want to emphasize the importance of community outreach. Due to the nature of the game that we play, new Goat Format players do not just spontaneously appear. The only way to continue to build the community in through spreading the word, educating others about the game, and showing decency towards new players. While GoatFormat.com was certainly not the first Goat Format focused website, what makes us different is the user-friendly, no-nonsense resources that we offer to new players. When we capture the attention of curious players, welcome them, and help them navigate a strange new format, everyone in the community wins.

For those curious about what I will do from here, I will be using my newfound free time on personal development. Over the last few months, I have been working on cultivating my personal relationships and advancing my career. In the long-term, I am working towards my goal of reaching financial independence. Perhaps more interestingly, to help me reach this goal, I have put effort into playing poker as a side income. I will be blogging about my experiences in this unique pursuit at www.acpennies.com, for anyone who wants to follow me along.

Lastly, I also intend to finish working on my Yu-Gi-Oh! book, which should not take much longer. While it is mostly about the process of innovation within the broad context of TCGs, it contains a chapter about Goat Format specifically. It will probably be of interest to only a limited number of people, but I intend to finish it nonetheless.

Thank you for your contribution to the community. I’ve just started getting into goat format and I’ve really enjoyed reading through all the articles. This website has made it easy to start making goat format decks and learning about the meta game. Thanks again.

I recently came back to Yugioh this month, after a 6 year hiatus, and have been playing a ton of Goat Format. This website and your Youtube channel, among others, have been really enjoyable!

Thank you for everything. I think Goat Format as a community is in a great spot and the community gets new members daily.
Just a question. Does this mean, that we never see ACP as a competitor again? Or even as a player in Goat Format? I think it would be a big loss.

Thanks for keeping this game alive, my friends and I have loved jumping back into it after so many years of not touching the tcg.
