It's finally time! The Goat Format World Championship 2022 is live! The best players from around the world have gathered to show their strength and compete for over $4,000 in prizes and a chance at the title of Goat Format World Champion!

While everyone's gunning for that number one slot, spicey lists and interesting techs are still abound. Take Tyler Veinot's Earth Aggro deck for example!

Deck List

Earth Aggro focuses on aggressive Earth attribute monsters like Giant Rat, Goblin Attack Force, and Gigantes. Rat is the staple monster, recruiting silver bullets and threats while also filling the graveyard with Gigantes fuel.

The deck is all about filling the field with big threats fast, while also clearing the opponent's side of the field of protection. This makes cards like Dust Tornado and Stomping Ground much more common in Earth Aggro than in other archetypes, as they answer opposing defenses and allow the deck's big beaters to do their thing unheeded.

Player Insight

While Tyler didn't qualify with the archetype, it seems it impressed him enough in the hands of other players that he wanted to try it out for himself. Since he's playing it at the world championship event, I think it's safe to say he's confident it's strong enough to go toe-to-toe with the more common strategies of the format.
I originally got my invite on warrior and after seeing Roghnach come back for Clash with his deck. I immediately became interested in it. A few players on my team have some experience with the deck and I decided to give it a run at the GGP in Connecticut, and it went very well as I got top 8 in the GGP and 2nd in the cash tournament the night before. It's a very fun aggro strategy that just wins a lot of 1-1 trading and the top deck war. The deck just spits out big guys and before your opponent knows it, their life points are at zero. It suits my play-style well and I think it gives a lot of decks a hard time to play against. Summoning Gigantes or Injection Fairy Lily and attacking for game is way too fun.
Tyler had some neat insight into the strategy, urging others to try the deck out for themselves:
Earth cards are cool. You always have a board and maintain field presence. The deck can win very fast and being able to have monsters that float into each other, special summon others, and have a toolbox that can deal with a lot of opponent's cards and threats is truly a really fun way to play.

Gigantes is a good boy, Goblin deals with Spies and Sorcs in defense, Rat and D.D. Assailant deal with Sorcs in attack. Smashing ground kills everything, Dust Tornado clears the way for you to attack for game and stops opponents Snatch Steal. You just have a lot of dope cards that can deal with any board your opponent makes.

[The event has] gone well. I'm currently 1-1 so not much has happened. I have lost one and won one versus Turbo. We'll see how the rest of it goes.

You should play [Earth Aggro] while people still don't know how to play against it, it's much better than people give it credit for and still vastly underexplored. Shoutout Ultra Instinct!
