If you're not deep into Goat Format you might not be aware of just how many variants of Reasoning Gate Turbo actually exists. Cyber, Dragon, Venus, and Water are just a few. Andres "Andres94" Rossi opted for a more mechanical version, piloting Machine Gate in today's event.

Overview

Reasoning Gate Turbo decks are potentially the most popular combo decks in the format. They mostly run on the same core of Reasoning and Monster Gate to quickly special summon large monsters quickly. Chaos Monsters will also be played to banish the fuel that gets milled or killed, which makes Dimension Fusion live, too.

Machine Gate functions similarly, but has the added OTK potential that comes with Limiter Removal. Chaos monsters are also often replaced with big machines with similar single target removal effects. Both Barrel Dragon and Blowback Dragon can clear the way for big attacks that are made even more threatening by Limiter Removal. With Cyber Stein also being played, the trio of gun dragons is completed at the cost of 5000 life points, and Gatling Dragon hits the field.

Player Insight

In asking Andres about his list, he was quite confident with the strength of the strategy. Him currently sitting at a 5-2 record seems to justify this confidence, too!
Because it's simply the strongest deck in the format, no matter what people say, statistics speak by itself. After hundreds of games played since 2022, this deck scored over 70% win rate even including so many games I played poorly or without paying attention. The sad thing is people not accepting this fact and I'm actually wondering why they still don't understand this is way stronger than any other commonly used deck like chaos turbo/control, warrior, burn, etc.

My best friend Luigi in 2022 invented a reasoning horus deck, which was performing very well (I consider that deck as the second strongest in the format). At some point, after playing it for a while, I asked myself "what happens if I remove Horus and metamorphosis and add a couple of machines more with limiter removall?". I started playing with it, and noticed it actually worked pretty well and scored above 50% against every deck. Originally, it had cards like 2 copies of sacred crane, Byser shock, call of the haunted; then, after testing and testing with Luigi, we started noticing it just needed to be as quick as possible and adjusting the ratios, until we converged to the list you see today (and yes, cannon soldier is key here, as important as cyber stein and dark magician of chaos).

The deck is designed to close the match as quick as possible. You have the otk combo in hand around 80-85% of times during the first turn, then it depends on my opponent's setup of course. Generally, what you want to see is Giant Trunade/Heavy Storm -> Cyber Stein (for gatling) -> Monster Gate -> Limiter Removal. 2 brain control and 2 mind control + snatch steal are the "removal of defense", the rest must be like "I only play these cards I mentioned, so let's reach 40 cards with upstarts etc". As for all other details, it would take too much to explain, but trust me, even cards like cannon soldier, token thanksgiving and barrel dragon in main have a number of purposes here, and every single card interacts perfectly with the whole deck. This is a game of probability, and this combination maximizes everything. And yes, the deck is so strong that Delinquent Duo is too weak to be played. And yes, premature burial is stronger than trinity.

Recommend Cyber Jar in side deck while also taking out Waboku for Threatening Roar, so you can flip Cyber Jar on your turn and it deals with Mystic Swordsman LV2 if opponent keeps it in. Cyber Jar is nice if you anticipate opponent to take out NoCs. Take out Cannon Soldier if you anticipate opponent using Wanghu.

Why would you play Cyber Jar in a reasoning gate deck?
- If you hit it with Reasoning or Monster Gate it does nothing
- swordsman lv2 does nothing against everything in the deck?
- NoC is dead in hand if you don't even set a monster until the OTK, same goes for Tsuku and Book
- Wanghu is dealt with 5/8 target of Reasoning, or you can steal it and tribute it for Monster gate
