The first tournament of the year has begun! After a hitting a few speed bumps before the start of the event, our 124 contestants were finally able to clash for glory and cash! Some are tournament regulars, while others, like creepinator45, are new to the scene. And though most would argue that with experience comes the confidence to think and act outside the box, this greenhorn's deck of choice highlights cajones that many veterans can't even claim. Ladies and gentleman, this morning creepinator45 woke up and chose violence, Mokey Mokey style.
Speaking on their inspiration, Creepinator made sure to mention that they discovered the strategy on our website's decks page, and that this was their first event in the format, and since they thought they would not do well, they wanted to "play something really weird". This is a respectable and understandable choice, as a new player could potentially gain insight and experience of how tournaments function and feel, while still being able to have fun.
In terms of the actual strategic decisions that went into the design and play of the deck, they had this to say:
Stall using cards like Level Limit, Human-Wave Tactics, and the 2K defenders until you draw Mokey Mokey Smackdown, Sword of the Soul Eater, or United We Stand. Then, try to OTK if possible. Human-Wave Tactics can search up Mokey Mokey to setup for Smackdown. Enchanted Fitting Room, Agent of Creation - Venus, and Premature Burial can get a hoard of monsters for Smackdown. Dark Factory of Mass Production and Premature Burial can be used to get back Mokey Mokey if all three have been destroyed.
True to their prediction, Creepinator admits that they did not do well in the tournament. Still, there seems to be hope for more more tournaments, and more Mokey Mokey, in the future!
Won no games. Didn't stand a chance in any of them. They played too much backrow removal for me to set up.
The deck is bad; don't play it expecting to win. It's also far from polished. I've tried versions playing more Venus, playing Heart of the Underdog with more monsters, playing more reanimation, and I'm still not sure what the correct version is.
