Overview

Picture
Blasting the Ruins is a unique combo deck that uses two of the most infamous combo engines (Empty Jar and Reasoning Gate) together to fill the graveyard as quickly as possible and with as many cards as possible. If successful, it can then activate multiple Blasting the Ruins on the opponent's turn, achieving a one-turn kill.

Cyber Jar is usually played with Book of Moon and Book of Tayou, as well as The Shallow Grave. This Empty Jar core give the strategy the ability to draw through its deck quickly and repeatedly, finding the cards it needs in order to go off. At the end of the turn, anything not needed will be discard to the maximum hand size rule, fulfilling Blasting's graveyard count requirement. Monster Gate (and sometimes Reasoning) provide additional dredging and card filtering.

Unlike almost every other deck in the format, and especially combo decks, Blasting the Ruins often plays well over forty cards, with some lists even reaching sixty. This helps to ensure enough cardboard reaches the graveyard for Blasting to activate.

Deck List

In this Reasoning-absent list, Heavy Slump is used as an alternative combo piece which benefits from the many Cyber Jar activations the deck seeks to achieve. By reducing the opponent's hand to a mere two cards, the Blasting player will often buy themselves enough time to build a lethal hand without worry of enemy threats. Should Blasting not reach lethal for whatever reason, Secret Barrel can finish the job. Much like other previously mentioned cards in the deck, It is made even more powerful when used in combination with Cyber Jar.
