Overview

Picture
Empty Jar is a combo deck that seeks to deck out the opponent over the course of a single turn. The combo centers around using Book of Taiyou on Cyber Jar and/or Morphing Jar to activate their effects on the very turn they’re set. Doing so yields five new cards, which hopefully enable the use of The Shallow Grave (on a Cyber Jar) or Book of Moon (on a Morphing Jar) followed by another Book of Taiyou to repeat the process. Each Jar activation has the additional effect of increasing the opponent’s hand size while decreasing their deck size. Once a critical mass is reached, the Empty Jar player activates Card Destruction and chains Serial Spell. Serial Spell will discard the player’s hand as a cost while keeping the opponent’s hand size the same. Card Destruction and Serial Spell (copying Card Destruction) then resolve. While the Empty Jar player has nothing to discard/draw, the opponent will deck themselves out.

While the deck is capable of a FTK, it is more appropriate to call Empty Jar an OTK deck. The deck is highly capable of playing a patient game compared to other alt win decks, such as Library OTK or Reasoning Gate Turbo. A skilled Jar player may hold off on their combo, even if they are capable of doing so turn one.

Deck List

One of the most common forms of the deck, Mystic Tomato searches for Cyber Jar, which can die to combat so as to be summoned back with a Shallow Grave, or flipped face-down with Book of Moon. Thunder Dragon thins the deck and pairs well with early Card Destructions and Reloads.
