Overview
Ultimate Insects is a deck for all the Weevil Underwoods out there. Despite their reputation as a casual monster archetype, they have had competitive success in the past. In the historic era, Matt Stille piloted his version of the deck to a top eight finish of a Nationals 2005 last chance qualifier tournament. Though a dated list by today's standards, this shows the potential of these unassuming critters.
Flying Kamikari and Howling Insect search for Ultimate Insect LV3 at the end of the opponent's combat. Then, on the standby phase, it levels up to LV5, reducing the ATK stat of every enemy monster for easy pickings.
With two different recruiters available, Creature Swap is a must. Both have a lot of options in what they find beyond Insect LV3. Kamikari can grab Twin-Headed Behemoth or Sasuke Samurai for example. Howling Insect, among other things, finds Swarm of Scarabs or Swarm of Locusts for some free removal, as they can be activated on your next turn thanks to their self-flipping effect. This was a core interaction in Stille's list.
Unlike Armed Dragon, Horus, or other LV monsters, Ultimate Insect LV7 has no special summon restriction. So, it's common to play more copies than you otherwise would, with the plan to cheat the boss monster into play using graveyard reanimation, Pinch Hopper, or other cards.

Deck List
Five slots dedicated to recruiters, plus a single Pitch Hopper, justifies Creature Swap. If Hopper should die to a battle trap or monster, it often replaces itself with something much more threatening. Howling Insect ensure we consistently find it when we want it. Paired with Kamikari, the recruiters ensure we will almost always have a LV Insect within the first couple turns. In general, the deck is able to stay aggressive without much fear thanks to the high number of floaters.
Chaos monsters can be an issue because of their banish effects, so three Kycoo have been included as a deterrent. Tsukuyomi is also a big issue since most of the deck's monsters have incredibly low DEF stats. This is one of the reasons so many battle traps have been added.

Additional Card Options
Ultimate Insects' Wind attribute, plus the fact that Kamikari is in almost ever list, means Wind support cards are potential inclusions. Harpie Lady 1 and Lady Ninja Yae are silver bullets for Kamikari. Meanwhile, Garuda the Wind Spirit and Silpheed feed off of the multiple Kamikari and LV3s that will be hitting the graveyard early on.
Hand of Nephthys is another easy target for Kamikari. Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys is a powerful monster, and the two of them fit perfectly into the Ultimate Insect shell. Last Will will sometimes get added for its synergy with Hand, and its ability to find her. The card is even more popular in lists that use Insect Imitation to easily search out and cheat a LV5 into play.
