Overview

Picture
Spell Counter Control decks contain cards which use the spell counter mechanic. Anti-Spell is the main the reason the deck exists. With enough counters on the field, it counters an enemy spell without having to discard a card or lose life points, like most other spell counters in the format. Blast Magician is a popular inclusion as well, clearing threats and goat tokens relatively easily. Finally, Mega Ton Magical Cannon is the strategy's most powerful payoff card. Though incredibly difficult to resolve, the card can be game-ending.

Most of the rest of the core cards consists of monsters which hold spell counters. Skilled White and Skilled Dark Magician have great stats, though they'll almost never be used as tributes for their respective boss monsters. Magical Marionette has an easier time destroying monsters than Blast Magician, though it requires a tribute. on the defensive side of things, Royal Magical Library draws the deck extra cards and keeps most threats at bay.

Some versions of the deck play cards like Toon Table of Contents and Last Will, which can easily be spammed to increase spell counter numbers. These versions have their explosive games, but are overall less consistent.

Deck List

Apprentice Magician brings more spell counter support, and searches for either Magician of Faith, or Old Vindictive Magician. All three play well with Tsukuyomi, who also stops Thousand Eyes Restrict from ruining the fun. Of course, with so many Light and Dark monsters in the deck, Black Luster Soldier is a must.
