Overview

Picture
Last turn is a combo deck seeking to win during the opponent’s turn using the namesake trap. The deck can rapidly drain it’s own life to 1000 or less using Wall of Revealing Light or Inspection (which can be used any number of times in a given standby phase in goat and has the added bonus of scouting out the opponent’s hand). It then breaks the symmetry of Last Turn most commonly by selecting Jowgen, the Spiritualist with Last Turn’s effect. Last Warrior from Another Planet summoned by Cyber Stein and by Non-Agression Area (activated in the  previous standby phase) are also sometimes used. These three cards all prevent the opponent from getting a monster to combat your own, and with all their cards sent to the graveyard they’ll have nothing to remove the monster following resolution. Last Turn will make you the winner at the end of that turn.

Deck List

This list attempts to maximize consistency and protection. A Cat of Ill Omen searches for Last Turn, Wall, or protection traps. It can also find the single copy of  Non Aggression Area, should the pilot decide it to be the best route. Des Lacooda sits behind floodgates and provides card draw to find the combo quicker, or draw the trap searched by Cat in the same turn. Opting for the Jowgen win condition, Spell Sheild Type 8 is included to protect the spellcaster from Book of Moon, but it can also save floodgates from removal.

Additional Card Options

Though much less common, there are other monsters besides Jowgen and Last Warrior that are sometimes used in combination with Last Turn. Usually, these are monsters which flip to take control of opposing monsters until the end of the turn. These monsters are immune to Book of Moon and other removal tricks, but are susceptible to Mystic Swordsman LV2 and similar monsters.

Spirit Reaper, D.D. Warrior Lady, and Self-Destruct Button can all force a draw, allowing the Last Turn player to reset and try again, should they believe the current game to be unwinnable.
