Overview

Picture
Fusion Gate Turbo (often abbreviated as "FGT") is a combo deck which abuses Fusion Gate and its powerful synergy with Dimension Fusion. Though there is some variety as to which fusion monsters the deck can focus on, the game plan is always the same. Quickly special summon a large fusion threat and use Dimension Fusion to bring the pieces back, either for a big multi-monster swing, or to fuse again with Gate in order to create more copies of the preferred fusion monster.

Terraforming is used for consistency purposes, acting as additional copies of Gate. In the same vein, fusion substitute monsters like the Hex-Sealed Fusion line, are also considered staples of the strategy.

Fusion Gate Turbo decks are usually fast and consistent, often summoning one or more powerful threats on the first turn of the game. However, they are extremely reliant on their namesake field spell, as well as the chosen threat they produce from it. If either is destroyed, the deck usually crumbles. Additionally, it is typical for FGT lists to run little or no interaction cards. Beyond occasional protection cards, like Royal Decree, and the effects of the fusion monsters themselves, FGT will rarely be able to destroy, counter, or otherwise influence the opponent's cards or board without simply attacking.

Deck List

This is a Dark Paladin version of Fusion Gate Turbo. It is one of the more popular versions of the deck thanks to the high stats of each of the required fusion monsters and the powerful spell-cancelling effect of Paladin.

Thunder Dragon is extremely easy to abuse in FGT. Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon is a respectable threat, and it's not difficult to create even two copies of it on the first turn if Thunder Dragon and a fusion substitute are in hand. Played with The Light - Hex-Sealed Fusion, and we have enough Light monsters to reliably summon Black Luster Soldier, too.

A single Polymerization has been added because of King of the Swamp's ability to search for it. This way, Black Paladin can hit the field even if Gate can't be found.

Additional Card Options

Any large fusion monster that is legal to summon off of Gate is playable as the core threat of the deck. Aside from Dark Paladin, the most common are Gatling Dragon, King Dragun, and Master of Oz. Still, Gaia the Dragon Champion has seen play because of the existence of Spiral Spear Strike, and versions which focus on Black Skull Dragon have the alternate win condition of Red-Eyes Black Dragon summoned off of Black Dragon's Chick.
