Overview

Picture
Designed by Goatformat.com Discord regular TheNano, Cat Control is a hybrid aggro/control deck with some design links to Goat Control and its play style. It is based on the interaction between Rescue Cat and The Wicked Worm Beast. Normally, all monsters that are summoned via the cat are destroyed at the end of the turn. However, Wicked Worm Beast is instead returned to the Cat player's hand. This creates a "plus one", leaving the Cat Control player with two extra monsters in hand.

Using these free monsters, the Cat Control deck will poke at the opponent while maintaining card advantage and board state with its support cards. If the opportunity arises, Cat can be used for a large push in damage, but such plays are not necessarily required.

Metamorphosis is also put to good use, summoning Thousand Eyes Restrict (TER) off of goat tokens, or a previously cat-called Milus Radiant. After removing threats or stalling the game out, Restrict may be tributed for Manticore of Darkness, a threat difficult for many strategies to deal with.

Deck List

Below is Nano's list presented in his deck profile. This version helped him make top placements in the ranked ladder, and has potential against many strategies. Pandas deal well with opposing goat tokens, while Worm Beast makes it difficult for enemy TER to suck up monsters and become an actual threat. Alongside Trap Dustshoot, these cards make the strategy well suited against the format's namesake deck.

Additional Card Options

Emissary played alongside The All Seeing White tiger (which can be found with Cat as well) gives the deck even more potential to get ahead in trades, or in general gain or maintain card advantage.

Wing Blast and Raigeki Break are both powerful removal options that are made possible thanks to the card advantage engines of the deck.
  • Emissary of the Afterlife + The All Seeing White Tiger
  • Phoenix Wing Wind Blast
  • Raigeki Break
