Overview

Picture
Armed Dragon takes its name from the LV monster lineup of the same name. The primary goal of the deck is to quickly summon the higher forms of Armed Dragon and ride them to victory. This is most easily achieved using either Masked Dragon or Flying Kamikari. By allowing them to die on the opponent's turn, the Armed Dragon player can search out the weak LV3 dragon when it is most safe, then tribute it at the start of the next turn.

Dragon support cards like Stamping Destruction are common in Armed Dragon decks. Because of the high number of recruiter monsters available, Creature Swap is also popular. Both spells allow the Armed Dragon player to be extremely aggressive, clearing the way for major swings in damage even without a higher level dragon.

Armed Dragons LV5 and 7 easily clear away small monsters, especially Scapegoat tokens, with their discard abilities. Sinister Serpent and Thunder Dragon are commonly paired with them to prevent a loss in card advantage. However, because of its comparatively weak DEF stat, LV7 is sometimes absent from lists.

Deck List

Despite the risk, Armed Dragon LV7 is included in this list for its ability to clear goat tokens quickly. Sinister and Thunder Dragon help make this possible, and both partner with Graceful Charity and Card Destruction for large leaps in card draw. Both can pay for Tribe Infecting Virus' cost, too, and the former has good synergy with Creature Swap.

Brain Control has been included because of the large number of tribute monsters. Even without the bigger dragons, the monster stealing spell can be used as pseudo removal when paired with Thunder Dragon.

Additional Card Options

Element Dragon is a search target for Masked Dragon, and can even get a nice ATK boost if you have extra copies of the Fire attribute monster lingering around. Other dragon support cards, like Wingbeat and Dragon's Rage, are definitely worth a look, even if only as sideboard options.

Level Up! is a great way to speed through the leveling process, and could potentially see play with Last Will. Similarly,
Fusilier combined with Metamorphosis can cheat King Dragun into play, who can then special summon Armed Dragon LV5. This play is fairly common in Armed Dragon decks and also combos with Last Will.
