World Championship 2024
One of the oldest and greatest stories in Goat Format history has reached its final chapter: after twenty years, Team Overdose has finally claimed a World Championship through Anthony Alvarado, who has cemented himself today as one of the best to ever do it. Congratulations to our very deserving 2024 GoatFormat.com World Champion!
After nine rounds of Swiss, it seemed like the stage was set for Chaos Control to claim its first Worlds title: Peter "GeistD" Werthju was on fire, and Dennis "Charlycoke" Ziegeler had finished on top of the field with an 8-1 record and his own take on the same deck to boot. But Alvarado had fought through a grueling gauntlet of Lele "Purple Drunk" de Angelis, Dmitry "InsiDS" Summovsky, Donald "DuelingHigh101" Kiss and more, and he continued to run through Jonathan Harris and Francesco "Trishula93" Licciardi en route to a Finals showdown with Ziegeler. The Thousand-Eyes Restricts flew from both sides of the table as Alvarado dipped into his Side Deck for his own copies of Scapegoat and Metamorphosis, but when the dust settled, a lone Shonen Jump Champion from 2005 remained. Congratulations again to Alvarado on a stunning capstone to a twenty-year journey, and congratulations to all of our Top 8 competitors!
