Special Slifer Coverage

Here are the deck lists from the Modified Goats Special Slifer! Academy  League is a tournament style where players  compete starting at Slifer rank to become Ra  rank, and finally become Obelisk to earn a  Worlds invite for first place! This Special Slifer event was the first Modified Goat Format event featuring the newest ban list, and the innovation our top competitors brought certainly did not disappoint! NotSoFast took 1st place with a Light Reasoning Gate deck, utilizing three Airknight Parshath along with the creator engine, punishing slower setups with adaptability and speed.

Andend's deck was a real treat: A flip-Warrior midrange deck featuring the newly unbanned Makyura the Destructor. Featuring Chick the Yellow and Call of the Haunted, the deck had within it an infinite combo which hasn't seen the light of day in years. Though Andend wasn't able to pull it off, he nonetheless saw great success with this powerful midrange deck.

Kyo and Soul D. Sol both took top 4 with control, but the decks couldn't be more different. Soul played a consistent Chaos Control deck, while Kyo's defensive Goat Control deck closed the game out with Jinzo and Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys. In the Top 5, Majosam and Gergoos ran Warrior builds similar to Andend, reinforcing the archetype’s strength, while Splevin and Oups showcased Splevins "mobius turbo" deck, which proved surprisingly powerful and versatile even with no BLS in sight.

​Even though this coverage comes a bit late, it served as the perfect precursor for our Grand Puy 2. What an absolute thrill it was to see such a diverse and electrifying top 8 with such a notably strange first place deck. Congratulations again to Notsofast on taking first place!
