Ladies and gentlemen, the coverage of Obelisk 71 is here! Killer9208 managed to win the tournament. It’s worth mentioning that this is, in fact, his second qualification for this year’s Goat Format World Championship, since he has also won PWCQ 85! The deck that helped him earn his second Goat Format World Championship ticket was his Warrior deck, which, in addition to its staple cards like Blade Knight, included a single copy of Xing Zhen Hu that let him deactivate his opponent’s set spell and trap cards. However, his sideboard is even more interesting than his main deck. Besides the standard side deck cards like Gravekeeper’s Spy, it also had one Chaos Sorcerer, which, along with Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of The Beginning, adds to the deck’s finishing ability; one copy of Skilled Dark Magician, a card that can become an opponent’s issue with its aggressive stat line; one copy of Tsukuyomi, which can either help to reactivate his flip monster’s effects or help Mystic Swordsman LV2 do his job; and one copy of Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive. The sideboard transition into flips is strong because they line up well against what your opponent will likely do, removing Nobleman of Crossout and putting in battle traps, monsters, or spell-and-trap destroyers. The blend between warrior aggressiveness with flip monsters made him a juggernaut! The Obelisk 71 runner-up was Dr. Livesey with his Warrior deck. His sideboard was very interesting. He played one Smashing Ground, and based on his other side-deck choices, we can say his side deck was built to face every other deck on his path. In third place was Avenger Bagnarol with his Zombie deck. It is always fantastic to see such a deck in an Obelisk Top 4. His sideboard is very interesting. First of all, he played two copies of Scapegoat along with a single copy of Creature Swap, giving his deck a control-like character. Lastly, he played Kuriboh and Jowgen the Spiritualist, which can be assets against OTK decks. Our fourth-place finisher was FernandoKnorres with his Chaos Relinquished deck. His choice of putting Scapegoat, Creature Swap, and Metamorphosis the deck more of a control-minded game plan. As a result, he was able to stall the game, drawing the deck’s key cards, and stealing his opponent’s monsters via Creature Swap. Rounding out the rest of the tournament’s decklists, we have:
