PWCQ 83: Top 8 Deck Lists

With 71 players, PWCQ 83 was the biggest PWCQ to date! Lots of great duelists showed up with lots of great decks (including yours truly back on her ol’ reliable Panda Burn), but at the end it looks like Chaos was the name of the game for last weekend’s event.

The one notable exception was Titlefight with a Decree Earth Aggro variant featuring a zombie package and a Stein/Will package to close games out fast. I had the (dis)pleasure of facing titlefight that day, and let me tell you first hand that this deck is terrifying! Congratulations to title fight on the top 8.

Though Chaos took up the remaining 7 slots of top cut, I didn’t specify what Chaos, now did I? Of course, Chaos Turbo did make the top cut, including our winner Aco77. This is Aco’s first tournament victory in Goat Format, so congratulations on a stellar performance! Turbo also topped in the hands of reddaddy, TB Steve, and JonDoe77. Though their lists didn’t bring any tech to write home about, they still call derserve to be proud for persevering through such a competitive Swiss. 

Moving on in our chaos tour we have Kit in top 8 with Chaos Return. Always a rogue favorite, this Return list includes the absolutely wild tech of two mainboard Giant Orcs. Every monster in Kit’s list is a must-answer powerful threat, so it’s no wonder that this powerful and innovative tech nailed him a seat in the top 8.

Last but certainly not least, we have to turn our attention to second and third place: Two Chaos Warrior Turbo decks piloted by Picatron and SS98. Pica first designed this particular combination of Chaos engine + warrior package, and the strategy has been played with strong commitment by him and SS98 ever since. These finish mark the best representation the deck has seen, so congratulations to the both of them! I’m sure we will be seeing more representation in this unexplored archetype soon.
