Out of 140 players these are the eight that rose above the rest in the first major Goat Format tournament of 2025. Let's take a moment to recognize these talented duelists! How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? Played a little on the ladder, but I play so much that practice isn't needed much. What deck did you play today and why? I played warrior. Its second-best deck and has a good matchup vs turbo. I'm pretty good with the list that I brought today. What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? Turbo What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? Warrior, EA, Burn What card had been overperforming for you today? Trap Dustshoot What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? Going 8-0 in Swiss and trying to break the curse. Just have been playing very well, and the cards have been going my way. If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? My list is pretty solid; I don't think I would change a thing about it. How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? DB ladder What deck did you play today and why? Chaos Turbo. It is more fun once you get used to it, and it is the most flexible deck. Adaptable decks have always been the most fun for me. What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? I didn't get to play against the Gearfried deck that was doing well, but I have come to enjoy playing against earth decks in particular when they are piloted well. Didn't have those matchups. Ivan's match was really good in the turbo mirror. What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? The chat knows I hate Burn, lol sorry guys. But running 3 Wok to knock it out of the tournament did feel pretty good. Wok would be an unplayable card if not for Ojama Trio. What card had been overperforming for you today? Pot of Greed What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? Resolving my Mystic Woks and drawing MST for the game If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? I don't know; Abyss Soldier wasn't drawn much, but it is my favorite card and did actually help me win in the last round. Shoutouts to the world champ because it's mostly his main deck, but our side decks differ a lot. Night Ass isn't that good, in my opinion. How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? I played a bit on Duelingbook ladder What deck did you play today and why? Chaos Turbo because it's what I always play What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? The mirror and control What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? Burn and Warrior What card had been overperforming for you today? BLS What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? The game I played against Dale and I barely won by 100 life points in time. It felt like an anime moment. If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? I would main deck Mirror Force and possibly Torrential next time. I usually respect the Warrior matchup when preparing my lists but I went against that for this event. I prepared my main deck for the mirror but there's too many good Warrior players to cut those cards. How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? I practiced on the DB Goat format ladder as well as in the Slifer tournaments on the GFEU server, which is a great way to test, by the way. I also had 3 practice matches vs. Sui (s/o to my Turkish brother), who absolutely demolished me on Chaos Turbo. I had to change the whole deck because of him. Apparently, it worked out well. What deck did you play today and why? I played Chaos Control for the GFC as it is (one of) my favorite deck(s)—next to Chaos Return. What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? No particular player. Anything Aggro. What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? No particular player. Any Stein and Burn decks. What card had been overperforming for you today? Spirit Reaper and Mystik Wok. Both cards won me my matches vs. Cat Burn/Stein OTK and Panda Burn. What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? Winning my Cat Burn/Stein OTK and Panda Burn matches. If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? I would like to take this opportunity and thank everyone from Team BONES, Team SPITFIRE, and the Formula server. How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? No particular practice, only some games IRL and online (academy or some games with the Greeks). What deck did you play today and why? Turbo is the best deck of the format. What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? I did not have any preference. What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? Did not want to play any OTK/FTK decks. What card had been overperforming for you today? It's just turbo; every card played its role. What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? The last standings were that I was 6-2 and was not sure if I would make it or not, and fortunately I made it to the top 8. If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? Not particular changes. All the cards did their job How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? I talked to my War League team (Bug Catchers) about what I should submit, and after those conversations, I decided to run back the same 55 cards that I've played since Summer 2024 for open tournament environments. My teammates decided on hedging for the pre-board Warrior matchup more, but I wasn't convinced about the adjustments (choosing to main deck Solemn Judgment) as I felt that it didn't move the needle enough and that the lost equity in the mirror wouldn't be worth it. Beyond that, I did very little hands-on prep for this event and went in with a mindset of not really expecting anything to come of the weekend. This helped me stay relaxed and focused on playing tight as opposed to being results-oriented, which (clearly) was beneficial to my performance. What deck did you play today and why? I played Chaos Turbo because it's the best deck. What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? I was looking forward to playing against Earth Aggro, as I believe it's a very lopsided matchup for Chaos Turbo. What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? I really didn't want to play against Goolahz on Lockdown Burn. Thankfully, I dodged him! What card had been overperforming for you today? I drew Delinquent Duo a lot, and it put in an insane amount of work. What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? My favorite moment of the event was qualifying for Worlds, making it all the way to the finals, and proving to myself I wasn't washed up. If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? I don't like changing my deck list much and would be very happy to run back the same 55 going forward. With that said, I could see myself trying main deck Solemn Judgments in the future like the rest of my teammates did. I could also see myself cutting the Asura Priest for a second Mind Control, as Asura somewhat underperformed for me this weekend, although it's also put in work in the past against the Scapegoat/Metamorphosis control decks and Reasoning Gate Turbo. How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? I spoke to a friend who suggested going back to some card choices I'd used before and had changed. To match the changes, I had to make the significant decision of removing Mystic Tomato since I felt Giant Rat and Zombyra The Dark kind of do the same thing together. This led to me taking out Newdoria from the side, and then I had a few duels with another friend and sent my list. What deck did you play today and why? My style of Chaos Warriors, which I consider to be closer to the chaos aspect than Warriors, a similar comparison can be found when looking at the Chaos Control lists; some are more Chaos Turbo, and others are more Goat Control. What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? Ivan Rossitto. We hadn't dueled until now, and I hold him in very high regard; he's so skilled and understands the flow of a game, and when it calls for less typical decisions, he always thinks before he plays, and his numerous achievements show he'll give anyone a tough match. What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? Not applicable; I come into every tournament with a deck ready to take anyone. What card had been overperforming for you today? I don't think any specific one; I've come to expect their results after theorizing and testing. What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? Getting a lot of free time between some rounds If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? Too early to tell. A card here or there can come up sometimes, good technical play always comes up, I usually review with my plays being the main focus, and if I find a card isn't doing as well as I'd like during that review or it's unneeded, I'll look for a replacement. How did you prepare for today's event? Did you practice with a specific person or team? I didn’t What deck did you play today and why? Chaos Turbo. I’ve been playing warriors and wanted more reps on Turbo. I won an invite last week, so I felt free to play whatever. What decks or players were you looking forward to playing against? Burn and control What decks or players were you NOT looking forward to playing against? Warriors and the mirror What card had been overperforming for you today? Kycoo, Trinity What has been your favorite moment of the event so far? Crazy lethal line G2 vs. Ghost Rider If you could go back, what (if any) changes would you would make to your deck today? Maybe take out a burn card in the side for third Solemn
